System Administrator

Responsibilities.
The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for designing, implementing, and testing technical solutions for complex problems, including customer-facing hosted and cloud environments. The SA provides expert technical assistance to team members and participates in the administration and maintenance of remote monitoring and management systems, including updating agent scripts, responding to alerts, dashboard monitoring, and completing periodic system reviews. The SA documents maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure. The SA ensures that technical solutions leverage industry best practices, designing for security and excellence while minimizing the total cost of ownership. The SA partners with network administrators, storage administrators, and application developers to solve complex problems. The SA defines internal customer IT infrastructure architecture needs and designs solutions to meet those needs including identifying new products, capacity planning, systems configuration and tuning, monitoring backups, and installations of hardware and software. The SA also performs system assessments and security audits, securing and managing infrastructures to protect productivity and mitigate threats.
Education.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training.
Experience.
VPNs, VOIP, SIP Trunking, BGP, VLAN, Deployments
Installing/configuring/maintaining systems running Windows and Linux operating systems
Scripting Python, Powershell, VBscript, Bash, etc.
Virtualization technologies: VMware, AWS, etc.
WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security practices
Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications
